The one and only Yogi Berra wore this New York Yankees home pinstripe jersey in 1978 during his tenure as a Bronx Bombers coach. The Wilson size 44 jersey is tagged “Berra 78 1” and references his name, the season, and the set number (meaning this was “Set 1”). Graded MEARS A9.5. The jersey shows tremendous use. Yogi was a New York Yankees legend and is widely considered one of the greatest catchers in National Pastime history. His big league career spanned 19 seasons (all but one in Yankee pinstripes). An 18-time All-Star and 10-time World Series champion as a player, he was one of one of only five players to win the American League Most Valuable Player Award three times. Yogi managed both the Yankees and the New York Mets, and coached the Yankees, Mets, and Houston Astros. During his coaching career with the Yanks, the team won its first of three consecutive AL titles, as well as the 1977 and 1978 World Series. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972 and passed away in 2015.
