Pete Rose was one of the men summoned to help elevate the Philadelphia Phillies into contenders in the National League. The eventual Hit King meshed with the team's other talent and a World Series was realized in 1980 - precisely when he wore this "Wilson size 44" jersey. The Phillies ended their longstanding World Series drought and sipped championship champagne for the first time in franchise history. Rose was solid that season as he appeared in each game, received an All-Star nod and also topped the NL in doubles.

Baseball's ultimate grinder put great use into this pinstriped knit garment. MEARS bestowed a grade of A10 on this magnificent piece of Phillies history. Surface abrasions and minor soiling are found on both sides from extended use. The anchor stitching on the single-color burgundy "4" front number shows good wear. "14" and a team insignia (fraying) appear on front while the reverse repeats the digits and has "Rose" arched to a nameplate. A lone swatch in the collar reads "Rose," and the tail has a Wilson size tag and all-important "80-3" reference denoting year and set number. One of the best Rose gamers from his tenure in the City of Brotherly Love. LOA from MEARS A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
