1977 brought the Yankees a return to glory as they ended a 15-year championship drought by beating the Dodgers. One of the men responsible for the turnaround was Jim "Catfish" Hunter, a free agent pitcher who had won three World Series with the Oakland A's earlier in the decade and signed a revolutionary contract. Here's one of the pitcher's all-original home jerseys from his Pinstripe years with "NY" on the front and "29" on the back. The jersey displays fine use and was used for at least two years as there is evidence of a black arm band having been removed from the left sleeve (this could have been for Thurman Munson in 1979). "Hunter" is sewn on a plate in the collar, there is a Wilson Size 46 tag on the front tail along with "77 1" strip tag. There is some minor dirt and blood stains, which add even more authenticity to the jersey. Hunter was the first pitcher since 1915 to win 200 games by the age of 31. He was a member of the pitching staff for no fewer than five World Series champions, all in the 1970s. The jersey is conclusively photo matched and comes with a printed photo match display.
