This jersey was featured in Hunt Auction's Brett Favre Collection during their recent Super Bowl Auction Event: Brett Favre autographed late 1980s Southern Miss jersey. White mesh jersey has the player number "4" screened on front, back, and sleeves. "Russell Athletic" tag in the collar notes size, "46." Signed on the back number "Brett Favre" in silver marker rating 8/9 out of 10. Light but evident overall game use. According to game footage Southern Miss did not wear nameplates during the era. Favre earned a full scholarship to Southern Miss and began his four yearr collegiate career as the 7th string quarterback. By the third game of the season Favre had taken over as the starter and would remain so for the remainder of his four year tenure. Punctuated by a significant upset of 6th ranked Florida State and his startling return to game play from a nearly fatal car accident, Favre enjoyed an exceptional four year stint with the Golden Eagles leading to his entry into the NFL Draft. When Brett Favre departed the school he held several school offensive records and led the team in total passing and offense for each season.
