This Russell Athletic size 48 Dallas Cowboys jersey and pants were worn by beloved quarterback Troy Aikman during the 1992 regular season. The mesh jersey has silk screened blue lettering and is signed by the Hall of Famer in silver Sharpie on the back “8”. The jersey has the proper tagging and lettering with “AIKMAN” on a name plate on the back, and the number “8” on the front and back as well as on the shoulders. In our opinion this item appears to show characteristics of light overall use including a hit mark on the left shoulder. The accompanying silver Apex size 34-long pants are signed in blue Sharpie on the upper right thigh. Both items are accompanied by a James Spence Authenticity (JSA) COA for authenticity purposes.
Dallas grabbed Aikman as the number-one overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft. In 1992, Aikman set career highs in completions (302), passing yards (3,445) and touchdown passes (23), and led the Cowboys to a team record 13 regular season victories and the second best record in the NFC. During the playoffs, Aikman broke Joe Montana's record of 83 passes without an interception by throwing 89. The Cowboys defeated the Eagles at home in the Division Playoffs and squared off against the 49ers in the NFC Championship, a matchup that featured the two best teams in the NFC. The Cowboys won, 30–20, with Aikman completing two game changing completions to send the Cowboys to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1979. In Super Bowl XXVII against the Buffalo Bills, Aikman led the Cowboys to a 52-17 victory and was named Super Bowl MVP after completing 22-of-30 passes for 273 yards and 4 TDs.
