While attending St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, James was considered the “best high school basketball player in America,” and led his team to a trio of Ohio High School Athletic Association state titles (2000, 2001, 2003). By his senior year, he averaged 31.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. His prowess on the floor was so great that tickets to his high school games were being scalped for an unbelievable $100.
