This bat displays heavy game use with some checking on the back barrel and is un-cracked There are numerous ball marks and ball stitch impressions that can be seen on the left and back barrel. Other markings include blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs, along with an impression of a weighted batting sleeve and cleat marks. There is a moderate coating of Mota Stick on the handle. Rodriguez signed his name in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “2008”, “Game Used”, “Career HR #531 vs. Texas July 2, 08” and “Passing Jimmie Foxx”. This historic bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B1224) who have graded this game as a GU 9.5 and a STICKER ONLY from JSA (B85114) for Rodriguez’s signature and inscription.

On July 2, 2008, Alex Rodriguez hit his 17th home run of the season off Texas Rangers pitcher Jamey Wright and also passed Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx on the all-time home run list with his career 535th home run. A-Rod was 2-3 with the home run and three RBI as the New York Yankees defeated the Rangers 18-7 at Yankee Stadium. Rodriguez used this Louisville Slugger C271L model bat during this game in which he hit his historic home run, which at that time put him 15th on the all-time home run list.
